Our Story
In 1987, I started out as a residential tiling craftsman and was immediately drawn to the beauty of marble and stone fabrication.
Making my dream a reality, I partnered with my colleague and friend, Baldvin Thorsson, and entered into the next level of sales, fabrication, and installation for 22 years. Stepping Stones grew quickly into three showrooms in Lower Fairfield County. Our work has been and continues to be photographed and highlighted in many periodicals—Architectural Digest, Connecticut Cottages & Gardens, and At Home in Fairfield County. We have also been featured in several HOBI (Home Builders Association of Connecticut) and A-List building/interior design awards. As always, we truly appreciate the support we receive from architects, builders, contractors, interior designers and homeowners, who allow us to be part of such an exciting industry.
Since 2018, I became the sole owner of Stepping Stones, aka Classicstones.com (Baldvin retired) and I have downsized to our original 2500 sq. ft. showroom and 4500 sq. ft. fabrication facility in the heart of South Norwalk, aka SONO. With my team of experienced artisans and office staff, we enjoy fulfilling each and every client’s wishes.
Each finished product has a story behind it. My team and I work holistically—from vision to blueprint and then template to finished product. We are professionals and satisfaction is key to the Stepping Stones experience. We will literally help you build your vision in stone!
It is my privilege to service the New York Metro Area, the hub of the world. I have also worked nationally, flying/shipping stone work to several unique areas of the United States (Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Florida Keys, Watch Hill, Jackson Hole and Yellowstone Club). Most importantly, clients return to Stepping Stones over and over again—the greatest compliment my team and I can have in this field!
